Cold war


Joseph Stalin:
He was a general secretary of the soviet army. He lived from (1878-1953). He is considered as the greatest leader of the Soviet Union. He commanded a very good leadership in aspects of economic stuff, replacing the new economic policy. He installed a lot of communist governments in most of the Eastern Europe, forming the eastern block.
History of Berlin:
Before the Nazy Empire came 160,000 Jews were living in Berlin. In the city of Berlin after Hitler being as president there were only 1200 Jews, they survived by hiding on houses, buildings, etc.
Also it was build a wall called the “Berlin wall” it separated the West Berlin with the East Berlin
The war came to Berlin half of the city was destroyed, the Nazy empire was over and the Jews would be finally being treated as normal citizens.

Mao Zedong:
Was a Chinese Communist leader, he lived from 1893­ to
1976. He led the comunist chinese party against kuomintang in the
Chinese war. Also he was the leader of the People´s Republic ofChina.
He is considered as one of the most influential people of all times.
Many people blame Mao for his political programs for causing problems in the Chinese society.
Korean war:
It was a conflict between the north side of Korea against the
South. It started in 1950 and was over in 1953. The conflict
Started because the 2 sides wanted to re-unify Korea under
Their respective governments. Each side was supported by
Other countries such as United States of America and the
Soviet Union. China also intervened in this conflict. The total
Of civilians deads were estimated of 2,000,000.
Kim Il-sung:
was a Korean communist leader who led the north side of Korea. He lived from 1912 to 1994. He had a lot of political jobs such as prime minister from 1948 to 1972. In 1972 he was general secretary of the workers party of Korea, he was a great leader, he is considered as one of the most mysterious leader of all times, after he died in 1994 his son Kim Jol-il entered to the place where he was. Also the day of his death and birthday are public holidays in North Korea.

Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán:
He was the centre-left president of Guatemala from 1951 to 1954. He lived from 1913 to 1971. He was in an organized operation known as “Operation pbsucces”, this operation was headed by the colonel Carlos Castillo Armas, it caused a chaos in Guatemala also it caused a political problem.
Carlos Castillo Armas:
He lived from 1914 to 1957. He was the president of Guatemala from 1954 to 1957; also he was assassinated in 1957. Castillo and his army, they invaded Guatemala to get full power forcing Arbenz to resign. He wasn´t happy about the things that Arbenz was doing, that´s the reason he commanded his army into Guatemala. He was killed by Rome Vazquez a guard that he had, it is unclear if he was paid for killing him or if he had other reasons.

CIA:
It was reported that 100,000 civilians were murdered during the 1954 to 1990. They are a lot of casualties for this years, it wasn´t supposed to have too many. They supported the ideas that arbenz had, a communism ideas. They also had some outside support.
John F.Kennedy:
He was the 35th president of the United States of America from 1961 to 1963 until his assassination. The murdered was Lee Harvey Oswald but it was murdered by Jack Ruby 2 days later. A lot of events occurred during his time as president it includes: Bay of Pigs invasion, the Cuban missile crisis, the building of Berlin, the space rate, the African American civil rights and early events of the Vietnam War.
Nikita Khrushchev:
He was the first secretary of the communist party of the soviet union from 1953 to 1964. It is consider as one of the greatest soviet leaders. He believed in the superiority of communism and he thought that it was a matter of time that it would destroyed the Capitalist system. He wanted to start massive programs to put fast tracks of virgin islands such Kazakhstan and Siberia. In 1962, he deployed nuclear missiles in Cuba. Thanks to a double soviet agent U.S.A was aware of this event. They removed the missiles from Cuba.
Fidel Castro:
Is the former head of the Cuba government, he has been on duty for 50
Years until in July 31 of 2006 he announced that he would be no longer
be president, he gave the power to his brother Rául Castro.
he hasn´t being a good leader to the Cuban people, a lot of mistakes have
been made by him and his government.
Ho Chi Minh:
Was a Vietnamese communist revolutionary, he was prime minister for 11 years, and president for 23 years. He led the Viet Minh independence movement in 1941, winning against the French union at 1954. He is named as one of the most influential people of all times, his great leader ship lead his country to a better place. They don’t know if he died because of a heart attack at the age of 79.
Domino theory:
Was a foreign policy act promoted that the United States of America declared, it says that if one land came under the influence of the communism, then all the surroundings countries will follow the domino theory. It was used during the cold war by the U.S.A in 1954.
Augusto Pinochet:
He was a Chilean general and head of the state of chile. He lived from
1915 to 2006. He was president of Chile in 1974. He wanted to be a
Officer, that´s the reason he became professor of the war academy in
Chile, he had the support of the CIA, in the beginning of his
Government he head harsh times. They said that that 80,000 persons
Were incriminated without trials and 30,000 were tortured during
his government. He was accused of having 28,000,000 or more. In 2004 he was judged by having a house arrest. In 2006 he died of a heart attack.
Slavador allende:
He was the president of Chile in 1970 until the U.S backed. First he ran
For president from 1952 but he failed, then 1958 and again he didn’t
Win and in 1964. In 1970 he finally won. He was the first Marxist
Socialist to become president of a state in Latin-American. He died in
1973.
Nixon:
He was president of the United States of America from 1969 to 1974 and he was the only president to resign in the history of the USA, the hardest task that Nixon had was the Vietnam war, it was caused by the secret campaigns of bombs, after that Nixon had a successful plan, he negotiated with north Vietnam and he ended the American involvement in war. He resign 1974, USA suffered a lot in his economy, he was pardon by his successor Gerald Ford for any federal crime he committed while he was president. He died in 1994, the cause of his dead was a stroke.
Ronald Reagan:
He was the 40 president of the United States of America, also he was the governor of California. Before being a president he was an actor, he was the president of the screen actors’ guild.
After making 52 films he was a success, he tried to run for president in 1968 but he lost, then in 1970 and again he lost. In 1980 he won the elections, also he did another time in office because he won for the 2 time. He survived an assassination attempt, he was a good leader.
In 1989 he left the presidency, and 5 years later he was diagnosed with Alzheimer. He died at the age of 93 in 2004.
Sandinistas:
It was a Socialist political party in Nicaragua. The leader of this group was Augusto Cesar Sandino; he led this group against the United States of America in 1930. The FSLN remains in Nicaragua making it as 1 of the most important political parties.
Contras:
It is the name of various rebel groups who were opposed to the FSLN, it also include a lot of different small separated groups like the FDN. It was from 1979 to 1990. They were united to defeat the FLSN, they fought for 11 years, but they never won, when the military cutoff the support contras were obligated to negotiated with FLSN.

Osama bin laden:
Is a terrorist from the Al-qaeda organization, he is responsible of the 2001 twin towers attacks, since 2001 he and his organization had become mayor targets of the united states of America. They are a lot of theories about his dead, they said that he died too many years ago, but they are another theories that he still lived, if he still alive he would have 52 years, he has a lot of criminal records for terrorism.
